I write about veteran issues, U.S. militarism and art, often in the same piece. My perspective is significantly influenced by what I experienced as a soldier in the Iraq War, doing anti-war activism in the years after, and my upbringing in Western Pennsylvania's coal country.

Since 2012, I've facilitated many writing and art workshops for military veterans and others, with Warrior Writers and Frontline Arts. I've also taught writing at Temple University, where I completed my MFA in fiction.
